The Mourning Virgin and The Man of Sorrows

Originally created by Dieric Bouts, this is one of many versions that was recreated after his painting was lost. This one was created about 50 years after Bouts' death and is considered to be the best version of the composition. It can be found in the Art Institute of Chicago and is dated around 1480 - 1495.
